THE SCA LOS REMEDIOS PICASAT PERFORMS A TEST OF VARIETIES OF CEREALS

The SCA Los Remedios-Picasat within its improvement program in the cereal sector of its
partners, has decided to collaborate with the Agrovegetal company, of which she is a member, in a rehearsal
to evaluate the adaptability of different varieties of wheat (hard and soft), barley and
triticales in the hamlet of "Los Villalones", where the cooperative has a headquarters.
The test consists of sowing the cereals in micro-plots with repetitions, to
evaluate with statistical data, the best variety adapted climatologically, resistance to
diseases and productivity, in our agricultural area.
The data will be evaluated after the collection of the micro-plots, getting the results
for september 2021.
Also with the aim of comparing vegetative development, disease resistance and
productivity of different varieties of cereals (durum and soft wheat and triticale) that to
today they are being sown in our region, a demonstrative trial has been designed
in bands by the technicians of the SCA Los Remedios Picasat in the area of ​​"Villalones", where
the cooperative has a headquarters.

The varieties that have been introduced in the trial are: Hard wheat (Don Ricardo, Don
Ortega, Core, Gallareta and Monachil), Common wheat (Rota), Triticale (Courteous and kind).
The bands have dimensions of 70 meters long by 5,40 meters wide, will be
evaluated weekly, doing all the same cultural work as a subscriber,
herbicide and fungicide, if they require it.

VISITS, TASTING AND COURSES

  • They organize guided tastings by technicians from the Cooperative and by technicians from the Olvera Denomination of Origin. They take place in our facilities of the Cooperative. They are aimed at schools, to consumer groups, hospitality schools, etc.
  • They organize you guided tours to the oil mill, checking the entire oil production process from the entry of the olive.
  • They are also organized visits to the field, to check the olive harvest and other crops.
  • They are taught training courses and talks on the cooperative activities.
