AGRICULTURAL INCOME INCREASES BY 2015

THE RISE IS FROM 1,7 PERCENT REGARDING 2014

The first estimate of the evolution of the main economic figures and the value generated by the agricultural production activity in 2015, published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, point out that the estimated value of the Agricultural Income for this year is 22.170,5 million euros in current terms, which represents an increase in 1,7% with respect to 2014. While, the value of agricultural income per Annual Work Unit (UTA) increases a 4,4% in ordinary terms, and a 3,8% in constant terms.
Meanwhile, the European Statistical Office "Eurostat" has released the data from the different EU member states of the Agricultural Income indicator by UTA in constant terms (known as indicator A and which is the harmonized indicator for the European Union). This indicator has fallen by 4% for the whole of the EU28, which contrasts with the aforementioned increase in 3,8% in Spain.
According to the Magrama, the increase in agricultural income has been mainly due to the good performance of the production of the vegetable branch, with an increase in the value of its production of a 5,8%. This increase is determined by the notable rise in prices (13,3%), especially those of fruits (7,7%) and the vegetables (18,6%), since the quantities produced were reduced by 6,7%.
It is very important to note that agricultural income has grown despite the drop in production in the olive sector (52,2% less), caused by the weather conditions of last season and by the characteristics of this crop, alternating seasons of strong harvests and others of reduced harvests. If no such decrease in production has occurred, the rent increase would have been much higher.
