Dec 31, 2018 | CATTLE RAISING | 0 comments

Last 11 from December to 2018, Committee on PAFF (Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed) European Commission, It was approved unanimously by all Member States the declaration of the province of Cadiz as officially brucellosis-free ovine and caprine. This statement shall be effective upon its publication in the Official Document of the European Union (DOUE).
Brucellosis is an infectious disease transmitted from cattle to people, He is known as "Malta fever". For years the program for the control and eradication of brucellosis has been applied, in our sheep and goat farms, through ADSG (Livestock Health Defense Association) by means of blood controls and sacrifices of positive animals.
After a first period in which it seemed that it was impossible to eradicate the disease, the effort made in recent years by farmers and veterinarians strictly applying the program has paid off, and progress has been made to the point of achieving the status of officially brucellosis free in our province.
This recognition supposes the reduction of sanitation to a small percentage of farms, thus disappearing the annual sanitation that had been carried out. Pre-move-for-life tests will no longer be necessary, with which the sales procedures are streamlined, Well, you will not have to wait for the laboratory result. The news also means improving the health status of our livestock and opening new business opportunities.
Cooperative Los Remedios-Picasat congratulates the livestock sector in sheep and goats, the ADSG and self-administration by the great accomplishment achieved, and encouraged to continue fighting for the path of Animal Health, only possible way to ensure the safety of food we produce for consumers, and at the same time the only key to open the door of the markets.
