Short collection expected, due to drought, but of great quality
The Cooperative's facilities in Olvera hosted last Friday 6 October the official start of the olive campaign, with an event in which the chef Alejandro Alcántara was named “Godfather” of our olive oils this season 2023/2024. This renowned Cadiz chef currently runs three restaurants in El Puerto de Santa María, Seville and Madrid. In the words of Francisco Panduro, president of Los Remedios-Picasat, The figure of Alejandro Alcántara was chosen for “his effort, dedication and dedication in enhancing the products of their land and their cultural heritage”.
The new campaign will be marked by the effects of the drought, which will cause the harvest to be shorter than usual, very similar in quantity to last season.
However, the high quality of the new oils is guaranteed, as could be seen in the traditional miller's breakfast served after the appointment of the ambassador of our “liquid gold.”. All those attending the event were able to taste our early harvested oils, highlighting the Arbequino monovarietal or the extra virgin from ecological cultivation.
