In the morning of the past 25 October took place the official opening ceremony of the olive harvesting campaign 2018/2019 in the Olive Mill of the Cooperative.
The day began with an institutional visit from Ms.. Irene Garcia Macías, President of the Provincial Council of Cádiz, to our facilities in Los Gredales, where the first olives of the season were already beginning to be ground. Before enjoying a traditional miller breakfast with muffins, Serrano bread and oils from the first extraction of the year, a meeting took place with all the guests to the event, among which were representatives of the world of politics, the press, the distribution, gastronomy and agriculture, as well as the management team of the Cooperative and the Denomination of Origin Sierra de Cádiz.
Francisco Panduro, President of the Cooperative, He opened the turn of speeches thanking those present and mainly the president of the Diputación, who was awarded the title of "Campaign godmother 2018-2019”, Through which you are invited to represent and disseminate the values of a product as special as the extra virgin olive oil of the Sierra de Cádiz. Likewise, Francisco Parraga, Mayor of Olvera, highlighted the qualities of a product that he considers to be the standard bearer of the town and an economic engine, together with an emerging rural tourism.
Meanwhile, Irene García praised the work carried out by the Los Remedios Picasat Cooperative, and the excellence of the products you obtain. "It is a gastronomic attraction that attracts visitors and also generates economy through tourism, of people who come to consume these products ", added. further, has offered the support of the Provincial Council to continue supporting the sector at a time that it has described as "of opportunity".
After finishing breakfast, the presence of Mrs. García was used to proceed with the inauguration, a few meters from the entrance to the Cooperative, of drinking water supply from the local supply network to the Los Gredales facilities and to the neighboring Camping Pueblo Blanco.
This new infrastructure, funded by the Provincial Council and whose works were developed last summer, enables future installation of new companies in the area, and serves as support for the main economic reference of the town, the primary sector. further, opens up new possibilities for diversifying the economy, and allows the tourist development of the area.
