WE ARE AT YOUR DISPOSAL TO MANAGE THE PURCHASE OF MORE PLAYERS
Everyone knows the importance of offering homogeneous and quality products in today's markets.. If we refer to the sheep sector, more specifically to the marketing of lambs, this incidence is more pronounced and takes on greater importance. Being aware of the existing need to improve the genetic potential of our herds, The Cooperative has for a long time put into operation the joint purchase of breeding lambs of the Segureña Breed of high genetic value for the improvement of the sheep herd of its members.
The Segureña breed is one of the most widespread in the region. It has a good adaptation to the conditions of our area, It is one of the breeds that is most liked among farmers and is demanded by the agents to eat-
cial operating in the sector.
The cooperative, in collaboration with the National Association of Sheep Breeders Segureño has managed the acquisition of select breeders. The lambs purchased come from highly selected herds and from a
high genetic value.
At the beginning of August these animals were received and distributed among the demanding farmers. This time they have been delivered 25 males and 5 hem-bras. Some of the acquired males have 8 months of age, being prepared for reproduction. Others have 4 months and less weight, so they need a major adaptation before breeding. The females are between 3 Y 4 months.
All of them come from herds belonging to the National Association of Segureño Sheep Breeders, located in Huescar (Granada). They have been in the area for more than 30 years working on the genetic improvement of their herds. These animals have been genetically tested and selected to be reproductive.
The Cooperative has obtained the lowest
price possible by contacting the association directly, and has assumed the transport costs from Granada to Olvera. The management of purchase and delivery of animals has also been carried out.
Obtaining this type of reproducers of high genetic value we will be able to improve the final value of the lambs to be commercialized, and therefore the profitability of the suffered sheep farms in our region.
The Cooperative remains at the disposal of the members who request it to manage the purchase of more reproducers.
