Compost and soil regeneration in our agriculture

Orography, varieties and types of soils make our system saw olive grove is the most costly economically, but otherwise it manages to get great organoleptic quality oils (odor, flavor, stability, etc).
This recognition is largely due to the heterogeneity of our soils, from sandy to clayey, through all its variants, and the biological activity thereof.
To maintain a proper health state in the olive grove, with strong defense mechanisms to fight and recover from external pathogens, It is vital to the recovery of biological activity of our agricultural soils. For several years we have been doing in many Cooperativa soil analysis to check fertility them and adjust plans subscriber. All analytical show low levels of organic matter in soil, with excess mineralization, which results in the degradation of the same and progressive impoverishment.
From the technical services of the cooperative are developing a recovery strategy based on our soil organic matter increased and therefore the activity of their microorganisms. Thus more and better growth is achieved roots, strengthening the immune system of plants, thus promoting the recovery of them in stressful situations.
Running a composting plant was the first step that Los Remedios-Picasat launched for the development of such a strategy, we consider fundamental to the future of our system olive grove.
Our compost consists of a mixture of manure bovine and ovine, and Alperujo and leaves the mill with the necessary maturity for application (1 year). Adjusting measures are not only adequately covering doses of fertilizers needed, but provide stability to the floor, increased water retention capacity and increased biological activity.
