RECOMMENDED FOR FERTILIZING THE OLIVE TREE, Pasture, ORCHARDS AND GARDENING
A new batch of Compost is already available for this coming August (Mulch) prepared in the new facilities of the Cooperative. The product results from a mixture of cattle and sheep manure, as well as alpeorujo and leaves from the oil mill. It has a maturity of 1 year, period in which turning and irrigation processes have been carried out, necessary to control the fermentation process, until giving rise to a stable and natural product, which has very important properties in terms of fertilization and soil improvement., providing a large amount of nutrients and high percentages of organic matter. The main Physical-Chemical parameters are:
ü Humic acids 9-10 % ü Total Organic Matter> 35 %
ü Phosphorus (P2O5) 2,50-3 % ü Potasio (K2O) 1-1,50 %
ü Nitrogen 1,5-2 % ü C / N ratio 9-12
Analyzed this composition, We can conclude that the nutrient contributions with this fertilizer are in many cases cheaper than any conventional fertilizer since, although starting the doses per hectare or per plant are higher, its lower acquisition cost compensates.
For the conventional olive grove, the application of this organic fertilizer in the fall is recommended., before the first waters at the rate of 1.000-1.200 kg / ha (Media 150 feet / ha) of compost distributed in the olive grove. It would be complemented in the spring with some foliar fertilizer taking advantage of the copper treatment. This is how we get a better use of the fertilizers, allowing to reduce the doses of these and lower the cost of fertilization.
On the other hand, It is highly recommended to use compost in new plantations, applying it at the time of preparing the land or simply in the hole itself where the seedling will be located., as the rooting of the plant is favored. In organic olive grove, where inorganic fertilizers cannot be applied, its use is if possible more justified being the doses to be 0,5-1 kg of compost for each kg of olive produced, applying it mainly in the olive grove and complementing it with a foliar application in the spring.
Due to its high phosphorus content, these fertilizers are highly recommended in the improvement of pastures and meadows. Their doses vary depending on previous contributions, livestock load or soil type, However, and prior to an individualized study, the doses per hectare can range from 5.000-10.000 kg in three-year applications.
These compost are also widely used in other crops such as orchards and for their innocuous nature in gardening..
