Thursday 18 July we celebrated in the Assembly Hall of our Cooperative a day on the cultivation of the Pistachero, in which, together with the collaboration of the Caja Rural del Sur, Official College of Agricultural Technical Engineers and the Callet Association, we address some issues of special importance in the implantation of the crop, how are their adaptability to the region, its economic profitability and the grafting technique in the field. Some attended 70 farmers, from different geographical areas of the Sierra Norte de Cadiz and Seville South.
Each of the presentations was given by specialists in culture as Michelangelo Zamorano (profitability of farming), Pistachios manager of the Sun, Julian Guerrero (Graft technique), Omniopistacho manager and Francisco Macho (Adaptability of cultivation), Agronomist Specialist nuts SCA Los Remedios Picasat.
the Pistachio, as it was evident in the day, It is a real alternative in the whole region for its climate characteristics, perfectly viable for growing early varieties (Larnaca, avdat, sumer) and stockings (sirora). As for the economic benefits, do not forget that there are few fruit crops that provide a return for the sustainability of our farms and employment generation.
Although the grafted plant requires a high initial investment, field grafting is a fully viable and affordable alternative for farmers. While it is a crop that does not require excessive care as adults, in its first juvenile stage (0-5 years), requires certain tasks and specific techniques to form a tree crops capable of producing the following 50 years at least. Thus, We recommend to all our partners to visit the technical department of the cooperative, where we will inform you in detail everything necessary for the implementation of the Pistachio on his farm.
In Los Remedios-Picasat we have all the necessary material for planting pistachio: tutors, fertilizers, protectors, gums mooring, and of course plant, both grafted and single patterns. The acquisition of these is always done on request and after counseling and study by our technical service.
Grafting field requires buds from mothers feet intended solely for that purpose. Therefore we in the Cooperative for three years with a plantation of feet mothers intended only to produce buds certified and guaranteed.
